On the count of three, everyone say “A-LO-HA” alright? Ready? 1, 2, 3…A-LO-HA! So what is aloha? Aloha is how people say “hello” or “goodbye” in Hawaii, a beautiful volcanic island located in the United States of America (take a look at the picture). Although aloha is not considered an English word, it is widely understood and a cool way of saying hello or goodbye!

　　Now it’s my turn to say a big, “ALOHA!” This is the first of many articles where I will be sharing (funny) stories and American culture with you. If you have any questions or comments, please write me because I would love to hear from you!

　　Do any of you have a favorite sport? A sport is something like basketball, tennis, or even ballet. Doing sports is a wonderful way of staying healthy and it’s fun! There are many kinds of sports so be sure to try them all to see which you like best. Now, look around the page and find a picture of a man standing on top of a surfboard “riding” a wave. Find it? This is a very famous sport in the United States, especially in Hawaii, called surfing. While riding the wave, professional surfers are able to do turns, tricks, even flips on top of the water! Very cool isn’t it?
